About the programme

This trip to Azerbaijan lasts six days and five nights, and the flight is already included in the program. You arrive in Baku, you are met and taken to the hotel — then the city opens up gradually, layer by layer.

The first day is only the road and check-in: time to recover after the flight. But the second day immediately gives both a general view of the city from above and an immersion in its old part. This is the most packed day of the program: after a walk through the Highland Park, a walking part through Icherisheher with its narrow streets awaits you, and the day ends with dinner in a national restaurant-museum with live music and an introduction to the local cuisine.

The third day is calmer in rhythm and is dedicated to art and the embankment: the carpet museum, a walk along the Baku Boulevard with a view of the Caspian Sea, the cultural center bearing the name of Heydar Aliyev, and a meal in a national restaurant where "Shah-plov" is served. The fourth day takes you out of the city — to the fire temple and to the ethnographic reserve, where you will be taught to cook kutabs. This is a day of crafts, history and handmade work.

The fifth day is free: you can walk around the city on your own, and the transfer to the airport completes the trip. The program is suitable for those who want to see both the old and the new Baku, try the national cuisine and not spend the whole vacation on the road between cities.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

The day of arrival in Baku: you are met at Heydar Aliyev International Airport and taken to the hotel. Then — check-in and rest. No excursions and no transfers, only the road and the first look at the city.

  2. Day 2

The busiest day of the trip. First you go up to the Highland Park — from there the city is visible as a whole, as if on the palm of your hand. Then the walking part begins: Icherisheher with its alleys, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower, and then Nizami Street, which crosses the city center. The day ends with dinner in the national restaurant-museum "Shirvanshah": live ethnic music, mugham, works of Azerbaijani artists and craftsmen, and the national dish "Dolma". Here they also tell the story of this dish, which recently entered the UNESCO heritage list. Return to the hotel, free time.

  3. Day 3

A day of art and the embankment, the pace is calmer than yesterday. You visit the Azerbaijan State Museum of Carpet and Folk Applied Art, and then walk along the Baku Boulevard: the square of the State Flag of the Republic, the Mugham Museum and a view of the Caspian Sea. Then — the center bearing the name of Heydar Aliyev. In the national restaurant a meal awaits you, and among the dishes — "Shah-plov", which you can try here. Free time and a night at the hotel.

  4. Day 4

The day goes beyond Baku — to the fire worshippers' temple "Ateshgah", which is located about thirty kilometers from the city center. The second part is the ethnographic reserve "Gala": a walk through it and a master class on preparing kutabs, one of the culinary symbols of Azerbaijan. Return to the hotel, free time.

  5. Day 5

A free day: breakfast at the hotel, time for independent walks. Check-out from the hotel, if desired a late check-out is possible for an additional fee; suitcases can be left at the hotel if your flight is later. Then transfer to Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Among the recommended places for independent visits — Yashil Bazar with spices, fruits and souvenirs, the shopping centers Park Boulevard and 28 Mall, the Fountain Square on Nizami Street and the old city of Icherisheher.
