Baku, Gobustan, Gabala and Nij: 5-day sightseeing tour

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   Day of arrival and a soft entry into the trip: meeting at the airport, transfer to the hotel and check-in. Then — free time, and it can be spent to your own taste. A walk along Nizami Street or along the Seaside Boulevard sets the mood of the city even before the excursions.

2. Day 2

   A walking tour of Baku: first the quarters with the mansions of oil barons, among which the building with blue majolica and the Ismailiyya Palace stand out. Then the route passes through the Philharmonic Garden and leads to Icherisheher — the Old City with the Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, narrow streets and souvenir shops. The day ends with lunch in a restaurant of the Old City and a walk through Little Venice, where you can ride a gondola for an additional fee; both lunch and gondolas are available in the comfort and premium rates. The pace of the day is calm, almost all of it is spent on foot.

3. Day 3

   The day begins with a panorama of the capital from the observation deck of the Highland Park, from where the bay with the Flame Towers and the Seaside Boulevard opens up. Then the road leads out of the city — to the Gobustan Reserve with petroglyphs and to the Tourist Complex of Mud Volcanoes, where they tell about their properties. The excursion to the Land of Fire with the Ateshgah temple and the Yanar Dagh reserve takes place on request, and dinner at the Sharq Bazar restaurant is offered in the premium rate.

4. Day 4

   The most travel-packed day: from Baku through Shamakhi to the Gabala region. Along the way — the Diri Baba mausoleum, built into the rock, the Yeddi Gumbaz mausoleum at the foot of the Gulistan fortress, the Juma Mosque and the Kelekhana mausoleums in a green village. Then — the village of Nij, where the Udis live: you can go into the Udi Ocaghi museum-restaurant and, on request, have lunch with dishes of Udi-Albanian cuisine.

5. Day 5

   Breakfast at the hotel, check-out and transfer to the airport. If time remains, it can be spent at the Yashyl Bazar — trying and buying homemade cheeses, honey and jams.
