Baku and Gabala: 5-day sightseeing tour

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Baku, transfer to the hotel and check-in — then free time to look around and rest after the journey. This is the day of the group gathering, so the program is not overloaded: you can simply go out to the sea or sit in a cafe. For an additional fee on this same free day, excursions are available — for example, to the Heydar Aliyev Center with its smooth lines or to the carpet museum, where the collection of old and new carpets tells about the craft. Also for an additional fee — a welcome dinner at the restaurant-museum "Shirvanshah": an old building, national cuisine, music and dances.

2. Day 2

   A day of a sightseeing trip around Baku: you start from the Highland Park — this is the highest point of the route, from where a panorama of the city and the sea opens. From there you descend to the Seaside Boulevard, a long embankment along the Caspian Sea, where townspeople walk and where fountains and sculptures stand. Then — Icherisheher: a fortress with narrow streets, mosques and a market, where among other things the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower stand out. You finish on Nizami Street, which is especially good when illuminated, when houses made of local aglay stone resemble a Western European city. The pace of the day is dense, but without haste: this is the most "urban" day of the trip. Return to the hotel, free time.

3. Day 3

   After breakfast — the road to Gabala, a region among the mountains of the Greater Caucasus. The first stop is the village of Chukhur-Gabala: nearby are the ruins of the ancient city of Kabala, two round towers, the remains of a fortress wall and a museum that tells the history of these places and the Silk Road. Then — Tufandag and the cable car, the longest in the Caucasus: an ascent over the slopes, where in season you can ski in winter, and in summer simply walk and look down. Another stop is Lake Nohur at an altitude of about a thousand meters, surrounded by forest and green slopes: a quiet place for a walk and photos. Check-in at the Lake Side Gabala hotel, free time and a night by the lake. This is a day of transfers and mountains — the most "natural" of the trip.

4. Day 4

   The way back to Baku, but not a quick one: along the way — several villages. In the village of Laza you will find a mosque that is three hundred years old, a double waterfall and views of the Greater Caucasus; here you can also try kutabs and tea in the fresh air. Nearby is the "Seven Beauties" waterfall with seven cascades of different heights, which gave it its name. Then — the village of Meysari in Shamakhi: old streets, mountains and clean air, a place for a calm walk and photos. Then transfer to Baku, check-in at the hotel and a night in the city. The day is measured, with stops and without long walks.

5. Day 5

   Breakfast at the hotel, free time — you can pack without haste. With a late departure, a late check-out is available for an additional fee, and suitcases may be left at the hotel. Then transfer to Heydar Aliyev International Airport and departure home. The day is short and calm: the trip ends without excursions and transfers along the route.
