About the programme

Four days in Azerbaijan with accommodation in Baku and trips to Gobustan. The rhythm of the trip changes by day: first the city and its ancient quarters, then the lights of the Absheron Peninsula and the rock carvings, and only then farewell to the hospitable land. The route is suitable for those who want to see both old and new Baku, as well as to touch places where fire comes straight out of the ground.

Baku opens up as a city of contrasts: the walls of the Old City, or Icherisheher, neighbor modern buildings, and a walk along the Baku Boulevard leads to the Caspian Sea. Here everyone will find something of their own: some are closer to crafts and art, others to architecture and the sea expanse.

A trip to the Absheron Peninsula and to Gobustan is an encounter with fire and stone. The Ateshgah Temple, Yanar Dagh and the ancient rock carvings of Gobustan show how nature and history intertwine in this region. This part of the trip requires readiness for travel, but gives a feeling of involvement in very ancient traditions.

Nights are spent in Baku, which allows returning to a familiar hotel after busy days. Meals include breakfasts, the rest is at your discretion. The flight is not included in the program, the transfer from the airport and back is organized. The trip is suitable both for those who are getting acquainted with Azerbaijan for the first time, and for those who want to see it deeper, without rushing.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

Arrival in Baku and transfer to the hotel. Check-in after 15:00, the day is free. Night in Baku. Meals not included.

  2. Day 2

The main impression of the day is a walk through the Old City, or Icherisheher, where the walls keep the spirit of ancient Baku. You will see the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower, and also look into the workshop of the artist Ali Shamsi and the Museum of Miniature Books. Then the route goes out to the Baku Boulevard with a view of the Caspian Sea and continues on Trade Street and in the Heydar Aliyev Center. The pace of the day is busy, and it ends with a return to the hotel. Meals: breakfast.

  3. Day 3

The day is dedicated to fire and antiquities of the Absheron Peninsula and Gobustan. You will visit the Ateshgah Fire Temple and the burning mountain Yanar Dagh, where the flame has not subsided for thousands of years. Then — a place connected with the very first oil well, and the Bibi Heybat Mosque, and after that — the rock carvings of Gobustan. The pace is measured, with travel between locations. Night in Baku. Meals: breakfast.

  4. Day 4

Breakfast at the hotel, check-out by 12:00 and transfer to Baku airport. Farewell to Azerbaijan. Meals: breakfast.
