Baku, Ateshgah, Yanar Dagh and Gobustan: 5-day sightseeing tour

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

You arrive and immediately find yourself at the hotel — without excursions and haste. This is a day of adjustment: the city waits, but for now only outside the window. If you want to start getting acquainted earlier, you can additionally go to dinner at a restaurant-museum or look at modern buildings and the carpet collection — but this is optional, and not according to the program.

2. Day 2

The main impression of the day — Baku from above and Baku by the water. First you go up to the Highland Park, from where the city and the sea are visible in full, then you go down to the Seaside Boulevard and walk along the Caspian Sea. The second half of the day — the old fortress: winding streets, walls, palaces and the tower, and it all ends on a street with elegant facades. The pace is medium, but there are many transitions.

3. Day 3

This is the day of fire, and it is not like the others. You go to a temple where natural gas comes out of the ground and burns without going out. Nearby — a hill that also burns for real. Here there is less city noise and more of a feeling that you are looking at a rare phenomenon. Return to the hotel and free time.

4. Day 4

The day connects prayer and stone. First — a mosque on the shore of the Baku Bay, a historical place of pilgrimage, about which both travelers and poets wrote. Then — the Gobustan reserve: rocks with carved drawings and a museum before the walk, which helps to understand what exactly you are seeing. The pace is calm, but the day is full.

5. Day 5

A free morning without excursions: you can go to the Green Market for spices and souvenirs, walk through shopping centers or return to the old city. You can leave the suitcases at the hotel if your flight is later. Then — a transfer to the airport.
