Baku and Shahdag: 10-day sightseeing tour

This trip is built on the contrast of two very different Azerbaijans. First Baku — a city on the shore of the Caspian Sea, with a bay, fortress walls and labyrinths of cobbled streets, and then Shahdag — a mountain resort, where you move and live there for almost the entire trip. Ten days and nine nights, of which two nights in the capital and seven — in the mountains, so you will have time both for the city atmosphere and for a long calm rest among the landscapes.

The first two days — getting to know Baku. You check into the hotel, and then a city walk awaits you: from the height the city itself and the bay open up, and below — the Old City with its walls and streets. A separate stop — a coffee break, where the whole path of the drink from roasting to the cup is shown. The pace of these days is quite dense, but measured: you look, walk, taste.

Then the rhythm changes. The road to Shahdag takes three hours, on the way — a stop in Krasnaya Sloboda, a settlement of Mountain Jews, where you can learn about the culture and traditions of the locals. One of the points — the Museum of Mountain Jews, but it is visited at the request of guests and, except Saturday. Having arrived at the resort, you check into a hotel with views of the mountains and then live at your own rhythm.

The main part of the trip — Shahdag and everything that can be done there depending on the season. Skiing or snowboarding, hiking along routes, quad bikes, just beautiful landscapes — the program does not drive you into a rigid grid, you yourself choose what to do. The days are similar to each other in their freedom, but differ in what you manage to try. Ski passes, equipment and other activities at the resort are not included in the price, as are lunches and dinners — this is worth keeping in mind when planning expenses. Breakfasts, however, are organized.

Who this trip suits: those who want to combine city and mountains, slowly live at a resort and decide for themselves what to fill the day with. If it is more important for you to see a new place every day, this program will seem calm — its strength is precisely that the second half takes place in one place and without a race.
