Baku, Gobustan, Tbilisi and Kakheti: 7-day sightseeing tour

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   Arrival in Baku and transfer to the hotel — you are met at the airport and taken to check-in, which begins after 15:00. Until that moment the day is yours: you can start exploring the city on your own or simply rest after the road. This is the calmest day of the trip, after that the pace will change. Meals today are not included in the price.

2. Day 2

   The busiest day of the route: you walk through the Old City, Icherisheher, where walls, towers and palaces stand close to each other. The workshop of the artist Ali Shamsi is remembered separately — it can be seen from the facade, and the Museum of Miniature Books, where the hostess herself talks about her collection. After lunch the route goes out of town, to Gobustan, to the rock carvings, on the way — a stop at the monument to the first oil well and the Bibi-Heybat Mosque. The day is long and packed, the guide may change the order of sightseeing at his discretion. Breakfast is included.

3. Day 3

   A day about fire and about how it changes the landscape. You go to the Absheron Peninsula, where the earth itself burns: first to the Ateshgah fire temple, then to Yanar Dagh, the Burning Mountain. Here what is interesting is not so much the sites themselves as the feeling of the ancient cult of fire and the legends that these places have grown over. The pace is calmer than yesterday, the drives are short. Breakfast is included.

4. Day 4

   A day of transfer between two countries: breakfast, check-out by 12:00, the road to Baku airport and the flight to Tbilisi — a little more than an hour in the air, tickets are bought on your own. In Tbilisi you are met and taken to the hotel, check-in after 15:00. Then — free time, and the program suggests what to fill it with: the narrow streets of the Old City, colored balconies, the Abanotubani sulfur baths, the cable car to Narikala Fortress. Of the listed, especially worth seeing are the Metekhi Church and Bridge on the bank of the Kura and the Anchiskhati Church — the oldest surviving in the city. For the evening you can take a cruise along the Kura or go around the restaurants and wine cellars. Breakfast is included.

5. Day 5

   A day of Kakheti, the Alazani Valley — the warmest and most "tasty" in the trip. It begins with the Bodbe Monastery, where the relics of Saint Nino rest; it is quiet and calm there. Then — Sighnaghi with white-stone streets and a view of the valley, the city that is called the city of love. On the way — the village of Badiauri, where they show how shotis puri is baked in the tone oven: a master class on Georgian bread is included in the program. And the main thing — wine tasting, Kakhetian, with a story about traditions and clay qvevri jugs; it is included in the price and available from 18 years. Return to Tbilisi. Breakfast is included.

6. Day 6

   One of two routes, without a choice: either Borjomi and the cave city of Uplistsikhe, or Kazbegi with Ananuri Fortress and the Friendship Arch. If Borjomi comes up — the City Park awaits you, the spring of that very mineral water and the air of the pine slopes; if Kazbegi — mountain serpentines, the Zhinvali Reservoir and a stop for lunch in the village of Mleta, where the order and payment are on the spot. In Kazbegi, in good weather, a jeep ascent to the Gergeti Church is possible, payment for the jeeps is on the spot. In bad weather Borjomi may be replaced by an excursion to Gori with the Stalin Museum and the Chronicles of Georgia memorial. Night in Tbilisi. Breakfast is included.

7. Day 7

   Breakfast, check-out by 12:00 and transfer to Tbilisi airport — for any flight. Then — departure home. Meals: breakfast is included.
