Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Gori and Uplistsikhe: 4-day sightseeing tour
Days: 4Flight from Almaty is priced separately
About the programme
This trip is a short but intense introduction to Georgia, built around Tbilisi and its surroundings. Four days and three nights give the opportunity to feel the rhythm of the city: leisurely walks, long feasts and trips beyond its limits, where history is felt almost physically.
Tbilisi here is not just a point on the map, but a place where every day begins with breakfast at the hotel and ends with a return to it. The city reveals itself through taste: wine infused in qvevri, and an evening in a Georgian family, where at a large table with a Tamada guests learn to make khachapuri and khinkali, and then dance. This is not a performance for tourists, but an invitation to a home where the culture of feasting is passed down from generation to generation.
One of the days takes you out of the capital to ancient places. Mtskheta with the Jvari Church and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the cave town of Uplistsikhe, whose age is counted from the 2nd-1st century BC, and Gori, where the house in which I.Stalin was born is located, and one of the largest Soviet museums. This is a day of contrasts between religious shrines carved into the rocks and the memory of a completely different era.
The last day is dedicated to Tbilisi itself — its famous Sulfur Baths, after which a transfer to the airport completes the trip. The pace of this day is calm, without haste, with the feeling that the city is letting go gradually.
The trip is suitable for those who want to get a rich impression of Georgia in a short time: its wine, cuisine, history and hospitality, without spending much time on the road between cities.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Tbilisi and transfer to the hotel set a calm rhythm for the start of the trip. After check-in, guests have time to settle in, and the night passes at the hotel, so that the next day they can join the program without haste.
Day 2
This day is entirely dedicated to Tbilisi and its tastes. A walking tour with a tasting of live Georgian wines and an introduction to the technology of infusion in qvevri — the recognized birthplace of winemaking. And for dinner, guests are invited to a family where they show how to cook khachapuri and khinkali, and then everyone dances together under the guidance of the Tamada. Return to the hotel and free time complete the day.
Day 3
The day is a trip out of town and the richest in history. First Mtskheta with the monastery — the Jvari Church and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, then the ancient cave town of Uplistsikhe, dating from the 2nd-1st century BC. After that — the birthplace of I.Stalin, where guests visit one of the largest Soviet museums and see the house in which he was born. Return to Tbilisi and free time.
Day 4
The final day begins with breakfast at the hotel, after which guests visit the famous Sulfur Baths. Then a transfer to the airport — the trip ends, leaving behind the taste of wine, the sound of feast songs and the feeling of antiquity seen in the rocks and churches.
