About the programme

Five days in Georgia with accommodation in Tbilisi and radial trips around the country. The city becomes your base: you return here every time, and the route unfolds to the north, to Mtskheta, and to the east, to the wine region of Kakheti. The flight to Tbilisi is not included in the program — you get there on your own, and on site a driver meets you and takes you to the hotel.

The rhythm of the trip is uneven, and this is its merit. One day you spend walking around the capital, unhurried and looking at it up close. Another — you go far out of town, to wine cellars and fortress walls, and return after dark. The third — a short trip to the ancient monasteries near Mtskheta. Such alternation gives the opportunity both to get tired of impressions and to rest from the road.

The trip is for those who value not only the views, but also the taste of the place: wine here is tasted straight from the tanks at the factory and from the cellar of a local winemaker, and cheese and other products — at the underground market in Tbilisi. A lot of walking and climbing, but also many stops where you can catch your breath and take pictures. Free evenings remain yours — lunch and dinner outside the program are paid separately.

For those who want to leave from Kutaisi or Vladikavkaz airport, and not from Tbilisi, a transfer is possible for an additional fee — individual or group. Otherwise, the logistics are simple: four nights in one hotel, group transfers on the days of the tour, guided excursions and entrance tickets according to the program.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

Arrival in Tbilisi, meeting with the driver and group transfer to the hotel. A day to check in, look around and rest from the road. A free evening and the first night in the capital.

  2. Day 2

A walking tour of Tbilisi takes several hours and sets an unhurried pace: the observation deck at the Metekhi Cathedral, from where the city opens up, Rike Park and the Bridge of Peace. Then — the Sulfur Baths, which are called the heart of the city here, and the underground market Meidan Bazaar, where you can try and buy Georgian cheese and other local products. A walk along Sharden Street with the Gabriadze Puppet Theater from the outside and Orbeliani Square complete the route; you return to the hotel on your own, the evening is free.

  3. Day 3

The longest day of the trip: departure to Kakheti, to the wine. The first stop is a winery, where the drink is poured from large containers, and here you can also buy bottles in the author's shop. Then — Bodbe Monastery, the burial place of Saint Nino, and Sighnaghi, the city of love, with a walk along the fortress wall and views of the Alazani Valley. At a rural master they taste Chacha from melon and different varieties of wine, and the one you like — take from him as well. On the way back — a stop at Manavi Fortress with the ruins of ancient churches and a circular panorama, including the Caucasus Mountains on the border with Azerbaijan. Return to Tbilisi and drop-off at the hotels.

  4. Day 4

A short trip north of the capital, to Mtskheta, to the ancient monasteries. A stop at Jvari Monastery on a hill — a World Heritage site and an architectural monument of the early Middle Ages with a view of the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers. Then Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the second largest church building in Georgia and also a World Heritage site. The program includes free time for lunch — you can eat at your own expense. The route continues to Shiomgvime Monastery, where tourists see the church and go down into the dungeon when the entrance is open. Return to Tbilisi and overnight.

  5. Day 5

Breakfast at the hotel, check-out and transfer to Tbilisi International Airport. If your flight from Tbilisi is in the evening, you can leave your luggage at the hotel and spend time freely until departure — the driver will pick you up three hours before departure.
