About the programme

Five days in Georgia is a trip with one hotel in Tbilisi and outings in different directions: to ancient Mtskheta, to wine-growing Kakheti and to towns where history lies literally under your feet. The rhythm is uneven: after a calm first evening comes a packed day, then a day that you manage yourself, and then a long road across the east of the country. Such a route will suit those who love both a city stroll and rural landscapes, and wine, and are not afraid to spend part of the day on the road.

Tbilisi in this program is not a backdrop but a full-fledged protagonist: you walk around it on foot, go down to the sulfur springs, listen to city legends and taste wine in an old cellar. The capital of Georgia remains your base for all four nights, so you can unpack your suitcases once.

A separate layer is Kakheti with its vineyards, wine, chacha and bread from the oven. Here the trip becomes slower and tastier: you not only look but also do something with your hands. And Mtskheta adds historical depth to this — monasteries, cathedrals and a view of the confluence of two rivers.

The free third day gives a breather: you can spend it in Tbilisi or take additional excursions for a separate fee as you wish — to the canyon, to the mountains or to a private residence.

Everything ends with a transfer to the airport and a flight home.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Tbilisi and a group transfer to the hotel — then a free evening that you spend as you like. This is a day without a program: only check-in and a first acquaintance with the city. Overnight in Tbilisi.

  2. Day 2

    The most packed day of the trip: first an outing to Mtskheta, where the Jvari Monastery on a hill and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral await you, and on the way — a glass of wine for the mood. After lunch, return to Tbilisi and a walking tour of the old town: the viewpoint at the Metekhi Cathedral, Rike Park, the Bridge of Peace, the Sulfur Baths. Then wine tasting in an ancient cellar, where you can also buy wine, and a walk along Sharden Street past the Gabriadze Puppet Theater to Orbeliani Square. Dinner and sweets at the Orbeliani Bazaar — at your own expense, you get back to the hotel yourself.

  3. Day 3

    A day without excursions: breakfast at the hotel and free time in Tbilisi. For an additional fee you can take a half-day trip to Tsalka Canyon, to which transport and a guide are added as you wish, or go to the Kazbegi mountains with lunch and a glass of chacha — such outings are possible in season. Another option for an extra fee is an excursion to the Castle of Rituals with a collection of cars of famous persons. The cost of transport is specified on the spot, based on the number of those interested. Overnight in Tbilisi.

  4. Day 4

    A long outing to Kakheti through the Gombori Pass with a stop at the New Shuamta Monastery and a walk around Telavi. In Kvareli at a winery with a cellar, wine tasting, bread baking in a tone (a traditional oven) and a churchkhela master class await you — what you make can be tasted in the gazebo, and lunch can be ordered there as well at your own expense. Then Sighnaghi with its pastel houses and carved balconies, where at a local winemaker they taste melon chacha and wines, and on the way — a photo stop among the vineyards. A late transfer to the Tbilisi hotel. If snow falls in January-February, the route will go around the pass, and instead of New Shuamta and Telavi there will be the Gremi Church.

  5. Day 5

    In the morning, breakfast at the hotel, then you check out of the room and go to Tbilisi airport by transfer. If your flight from Tbilisi is late, you can leave your luggage at the hotel, and the driver picks you up three hours before departure. Flight home.
