About the programme

Seven days in Georgia — from noisy Tbilisi to the high-mountain villages of Svaneti. The flight is included in the program, so the journey begins right at Tbilisi airport, from where you immediately immerse yourself in the rhythm of the city. The first day is a leisurely acquaintance with the capital: panoramas of the Old City, the cable car, the fortress wall and an evening walk along Vakhtang Gorgasali Square. This is a day of contrasts between ancient temples and futuristic parks, between sulfur baths and wine cafes.

Then the route leads west, to Zugdidi and Mestia — the heart of Svaneti. The road takes up most of the day, but along the way you can briefly get out and take a closer look at how people live in these parts. In the evening — traditional cuisine and Svan legends, which set the tone for the entire mountain stretch of the journey.

The third and fourth days are the most intense. First Mestia and the surroundings: Svan towers, the museum of history and ethnography, easy trekking to the Koruldi lakes with views of Ushba and Tetnuldi. Then a jeep tour to Ushguli — a village at an altitude of more than 2100 meters, where medieval towers stand against the backdrop of glaciers. Here you will visit the Lamaria church and the ethnographic museum in one of the towers, and after lunch you will take a walk around the surroundings with a view of Shkhara.

The fifth day is a return to Mestia with a stop at the Chalaadi glacier. The trail goes through the forest along the water, and at the end a huge white-blue mass of ice opens up at the foot of Ushba. This is a place for silence and photos, without haste. In the evening — a farewell dinner with Svan cuisine and homemade wine.

The sixth day is the return road to Tbilisi through Zugdidi, with pauses along the way. The seventh day is free time in the capital before the transfer to the airport. The trip will suit those who want to see both the city and the mountains, without rushing, but with the feeling that every day is unlike the previous one.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    The first day begins with arrival in Tbilisi and an author's tour of the capital. The main impression is the panorama of the Old City from Metekhi hill and the view of Mtatsminda. You will ride the cable car, walk along the Narikala fortress wall and descend to the Fig Gorge with a waterfall. In the evening — wine and snacks in a colorful cafe, and then a walk along Vakhtang Gorgasali Square with a stop at the Gabriadze puppet theater. Dinner at the Mravalzhamieri restaurant and a night at the hotel.

  2. Day 2

    The morning begins with food and a soon departure from the capital. Along the way, linger briefly in Zugdidi to feel the local color. By evening you arrive in Mestia — the main city of Svaneti, and settle in a guest house or hotel. The evening is dedicated to getting acquainted with traditional cuisine and Svan legends.

  3. Day 3

    This is a day of deep immersion in Svaneti. After breakfast — a tour of Mestia and the surroundings: Svan towers of the 11th–12th centuries and the museum of history and ethnography with weapons, costumes and manuscripts. Then — easy trekking to the Koruldi lakes through green meadows with views of Ushba and Tetnuldi. By evening you are again in Mestia, where homemade food, mountain tea and silence under the stars await you.

  4. Day 4

    In the morning — a jeep tour along mountain roads to Ushguli, a village at an altitude of more than 2100 meters. Along the way — passes and ancient villages. In Ushguli you will visit the Lamaria church and the ethnographic museum in one of the towers, you will see towers of the 11th–12th centuries. After lunch — a walking tour with views of Shkhara. The night will pass in a mountain house, over dinner in the circle of a local family.

  5. Day 5

    After breakfast — farewell to Ushguli and return toward Mestia. The main impression of the day is the Chalaadi glacier at the foot of Ushba. The trail goes through the forest along the water, and at the end a white-blue mass of ice and a turquoise river open up. Then you will find yourself in Mestia again, and the evening will end with dinner with Svan dishes and homemade wine.

  6. Day 6

    A day of return to Tbilisi through Zugdidi. The road takes up most of the day, with pauses along the way. You arrive in the capital by evening.

  7. Day 7

    Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. A free day in Tbilisi before the transfer to the airport and departure.
