About the programme

This is a journey through China, in which the urban rhythm of the capital gives way to the slow flow of the Yangtze River: eight days, seven nights on the route Beijing — Chongqing — Yichang. The first part of the trip is an introduction to Beijing and its historical ensembles, the second is a cruise on the ship Century Paragon along the gorges, with stops in riverside cities.

Beijing provides a dense and rich beginning: here there are both huge imperial complexes, and large squares, and a lunch with Peking duck. The days are structured so that after a rich program there remains free time at the hotel — one can catch one's breath. Optionally and for an additional fee, additional excursion options can be added, for example a ride on cycle rickshaws through the old quarters of the city. Also for an additional fee, early check-in upon arrival is possible.

Then the route heads toward Chongqing: a flight, a transfer to the Chaotianmen pier and boarding the ship. On board begins a special part of the trip — dinner, a safety briefing and a captain's cocktail, and then the ship departs toward Fengdu County. Internal services include accommodation in a Deluxe Room Twin cabin on the second deck and gratuities for the cruise staff; a deck upgrade is for an additional fee.

The days on the water alternate between shore excursions and free time on board. Participants will see the ghost city of Fengdu, the Qutang and Wu gorges, and also take a boat ride on the Goddess River. Some excursions are offered for an additional fee: the theatrical performance "Three Kingdoms", a visit to the City of the White Emperor and a trip on the ship lift.

The journey ends in Yichang: an excursion to the Three Gorges Dam with the Yangtze River closure memorial park and the project museum, then a flight to Beijing and a night at a hotel near the airport. The last day is departure home; optionally one can continue the vacation in any place in China or the countries of Southeast Asia. International air tickets are not included.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Beijing by any flight, meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel. After check-in — free time to rest after the flight. If desired and for an additional fee, additional excursion options are available, among them a ride on cycle rickshaws through the historical quarters of the city.

  2. Day 2

    After breakfast, an introduction to imperial Beijing begins: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City complex and the Temple of Heaven. Among the impressions of the day is a lunch with Peking duck. The rest of the day passes freely at the hotel.

  3. Day 3

    The main impression of the day is the Great Wall of China at a section with a cable car, 70 km from Beijing. Upon return — a walk through the summer imperial garden of the Summer Palace. Lunch takes place outside the city in a restaurant of traditional Chinese cuisine, and after returning to the hotel free time remains.

  4. Day 4

    After breakfast — check-out from the hotel, transfer to the airport and flight to Chongqing. From there a transfer to the Chaotianmen pier and boarding the ship Century Paragon. On board — dinner, a safety briefing and a captain's cocktail, then the ship departs toward Fengdu County.

  5. Day 5

    The day begins with a walking tour of the ghost city of Fengdu. Then lunch and free time; dinner takes place on the ship. For an additional fee, when specified at the booking stage, one can watch the evening performance "Three Kingdoms", which lasts about an hour and a little more.

  6. Day 6

    This is the day of the gorges: the ship passes the Qutang and Wu gorges, and the culmination is a boat ride on the Goddess River. On board there is free time, and for an additional fee, when specified at booking, one can go on an excursion to the City of the White Emperor.

  7. Day 7

    After the completion of the cruise — a bus and walking excursion to the Three Gorges Dam with a visit to the Yangtze River closure memorial park and the project museum. For an additional fee, when specified at booking, an excursion to the ship lift is available. Then a transfer to the Yichang airport, a flight to Beijing and accommodation at a hotel near the airport.

  8. Day 8

    Check-out of the room and departure to the airport for the flight home. If desired, one can continue the vacation or journey in any place in China or in the countries of Southeast Asia.
