Beijing: 6-day sightseeing tour

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   The first day begins with a meeting at the airport and a transfer to the hotel, where you check in and have lunch at the Peking Duck restaurant. Then you will get acquainted with the heart of the capital: you go out onto Tiananmen Square, see the Monument to the People's Heroes and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, and after that — the Winter Imperial Palace with its halls, gardens and pavilions. The day ends with a walking tour along the Dashilan shopping street, where you can look into shops and cafes.

2. Day 2

   This day is about scale and movement: you ascend a section of the Great Wall of China by cable car, from where views of the surroundings open up. After lunch at a country restaurant of Chinese cuisine, you enter the Summer Imperial Palace, where architecture and landscape are united into one whole. At the end of the day — the Olympic venues: the Bird's Nest stadium and the Water Cube, which show the modern face of the city.

3. Day 3

   The day is dedicated to spiritual architecture. First you visit the Lamaist temple Yonghegong, where Chinese and Tibetan styles are combined in buildings, statues and murals. After lunch at a restaurant of Chinese cuisine, you go to the Temple of Heaven — a structure of the 15th century associated with imperial rituals. The pace of the day is calmer than the day before: fewer ascents, more contemplation and stories.

4. Day 4

   The fourth day begins at the Beijing Zoo, where the main attention is drawn to the Giant Panda House — a pavilion where you can watch these animals eat bamboo and play. Then a tea ceremony awaits you: you will be told about local brewing customs and given several drinks to try. This is the most relaxed day of the excursion days, with an emphasis on observation and taste.

5. Day 5

   After breakfast at the hotel you have free time in Beijing. You can return to places you want to see in more detail, or simply walk around the city at your own pace. This is a day without excursions and transfers, when the trip takes a pause.

6. Day 6

   In the morning you have breakfast at the hotel, and until the transfer to the airport there is free time left in Beijing. Then — departure home. This day completes the trip without haste and additional excursions.
