About the programme

Eight days between two big cities of China — Beijing and Shanghai. The first half of the trip takes place in the capital: the measured rhythm of excursions, imperial parks and temples, unhurried walks through the territory where the history of the Celestial Empire was once made. The second half — Shanghai, a city of contrasts, where old gardens neighbor skyscrapers, and the river divides the city into a historical and a modern part.

The trip will suit those who want to see two different Chinas in one trip: ancient rituals and modern panoramas, the silence of parks and the bustle of a metropolis. Moving between cities — by night train in a compartment, which adds travel romance to the trip and saves a day.

Each day is unlike the previous one: one is dedicated to the sky and prayers, another — to the wall and the summer residence, the third — to pandas and Buddhist temples. In Shanghai the pace changes: more free time, the city can be explored on your own or the program can be supplemented as desired.

Meals are organized according to the program: breakfasts at the hotels, lunches in Chinese cuisine restaurants on excursion days. Free days allow you to choose where to eat and what to see.

This trip is about getting acquainted with two capitals of China: the imperial and the modern one. It gives both must-see sights and air for your own discoveries.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Beijing, meeting at the airport and lunch in a Chinese cuisine restaurant. The day sets the tone for the whole route: the Temple of Heaven, where rulers came for centuries to ask the heavens for a good harvest. The scale of the buildings and the silence around are remembered for a long time. Then transfer to the hotel, check-in and rest.

  2. Day 2

    After breakfast — departure to the Great Wall of China, a section without a cable car. This is the day when the ascent and the expanse become the main event. After lunch — a walk in the Summer Palace park, the summer residence of emperors with picturesque landscapes. Return to the hotel and rest.

  3. Day 3

    The day is dedicated to Buddhist culture and pandas. First — the Lama Temple Yonghegong, combining Chinese and Tibetan traditions. Then — the zoo and the Giant Panda House. Lunch — traditional Chinese cuisine. Return to the hotel.

  4. Day 4

    A day of moving: check-out, breakfast, free time for a walk or shopping. For an additional fee you can visit the Winter Imperial Palace (the Forbidden City, the Gugong Museum) and ride a cycle rickshaw through the hutongs. Then transfer to the railway station and a night train to Shanghai in a compartment — optionally, a whole compartment can be bought out.

  5. Day 5

    The first day in Shanghai — free. You can walk around the city and go shopping. For an additional fee — a trip to the ancient water town of Zhujiajiao or to Disneyland. This is a day without a mandatory program, to gain strength before the excursions.

  6. Day 6

    After breakfast — a sightseeing program with lunch. The main thing — the Jade Buddha Temple with two statues of solid white jade. Then — a water cruise along the Huangpu River with views of skyscrapers and bridges. Return to the hotel, free time.

  7. Day 7

    A busy day around Shanghai with lunch in a restaurant. It will begin with the Garden of Joy Yuyuan, where there are more than forty picturesque places and the famous dragon on the wall. Then — the Oriental Pearl TV Tower with an observation deck and a panorama of the city. The day will end at the Shanghai History Museum. Return to the hotel.

  8. Day 8

    Breakfast at the hotel, check-out. Transfer to the airport for departure from China. The trip ends, leaving two cities in memory — the imperial and the modern one.
