About the programme

Seven days between two cities that are hardly alike. Beijing is imperial scale: vast spaces, palaces, temples and a wall stretching beyond the horizon. Xi'an is a fortress city where history lies literally under your feet.

The rhythm of the trip is uneven, and that is its character. The first two days are a dense immersion in the capital, then a night train carries you west. There, in Xi'an, the day is packed and short, and the way back again takes a night. In Beijing a free day remains — a pause to breathe out and walk where the guide did not take you.

The trip is built on contrasts: noisy squares and quiet parks, imperial chambers and a tea ceremony, crowded streets and halls where silent figures of warriors stand. Between the cities you travel in a compartment — the road becomes part of the route, not a pause between points.

Who it suits: those who are ready for transfers and want to see China not only from its parade side. Those who like to walk and are not afraid of long roads. Those who value packed days and do not mind spending a night on a train.

What remains outside the route, everyone decides for themselves. In Beijing you can stay for an evening show — for an extra fee, optionally — but you can also just wander around the city. The free day at the end is not scheduled by anyone: it is yours.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Beijing, a meeting at the airport — and immediately an introduction to the capital. The main impression of the day is the expanse of the country's main square: a place where you feel the scale. Nearby is the Winter Imperial Palace, where behind the walls the ceremonial halls of emperors open up. The day ends with a walk along the shopping street Dashilan: souvenirs, local life, a leisurely rhythm. Then a transfer to the hotel and free time.

  2. Day 2

    The day goes out of town, to the Great Wall of China. A climb by cable car — and before you is the wall and green hills. This is the strongest episode of the trip, and it is worth giving it time. After lunch in a country restaurant — the Summer Imperial Palace, where emperors hid from the heat among water and greenery. On the way to the hotel — an exterior look at the Olympic venues: the "Nest" and "Water Cube" stadiums. Optionally, for an extra fee, the Beijing Opera or the Beijing Circus are possible.

  3. Day 3

    The Temple of Heaven is the first impression of the day: architecture in which the logic of ritual can be heard, and an atmosphere for which people come here. Then lunch and the Lamaist Temple Yonghegong, where Chinese and Tibetan traditions have merged. Later — a tea ceremony, a leisurely acquaintance with taste and custom. After that, a transfer to the railway station and a night train to Xi'an: you spend the night in a compartment.

  4. Day 4

    Arrival in Xi'an, a meeting with a Russian-speaking guide at the station — and immediately to the main thing: the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Here the details matter: the ranks of the warriors, their weapons and equipment. After lunch — the ancient city wall, a defensive structure that has become a symbol of the city. The day is packed, but short in distances. Transfer to the hotel and check-in.

  5. Day 5

    A day without excursions. The transfer to the railway station takes place without a guide, and then — a night train to Beijing, again in a compartment. This is a day of travel, a pause between two cities.

  6. Day 6

    A free day in Beijing. No program — the city is at your disposal. You can return to where you wanted to linger, or simply change the pace after packed days.

  7. Day 7

    Transfer to the airport — and the trip ends.
