About the programme
This is a journey across China from west to east: from the capital squares and imperial palaces of Beijing to the waters of the Yangtze, and then to Shanghai's view of modernity and antiquity. Eleven days add up to a leisurely change of rhythms: first a city walk around Beijing, then the measured life on board a cruise ship, and in the finale — Shanghai with its contrasts.
The first part of the trip is dedicated to Beijing: here you will find spacious squares, imperial palaces and temple ensembles, as well as the Great Wall of China with a cable car ascent. These are days of intense acquaintance with history and architecture, where lunches become part of the impressions — for example, with Peking duck.
The middle of the route is a cruise along the great Chinese river. Days on board flow more calmly: landscapes, stops at the shores, small towns and gorges. Here the rhythm is set by the water itself, and you will have the opportunity to observe the life of the coastal places.
The finale is Shanghai and its surroundings. Here you will see both skyscrapers and the old town with the Yu Garden, and also go to the ancient water town of Zhujiajiao. This part of the trip is about the contrasts between modernity and centuries-old history.
The trip is designed for those who want to see China from different sides: both the capital, and the river expanses, and the metropolis. The flight is not included, but all internal movements, excursions and accommodation in Beijing and on board are organized.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Beijing during the day, meeting at the airport and transfer to the hotel. You will have free time to rest after the flight. If desired, for an additional fee you can order additional excursion options, for example a ride on cycle rickshaws through the old hutong alleys.
Day 2
After breakfast you will get acquainted with the main symbols of Beijing: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. This is a day rich in history and architecture, with a lunch where Peking duck is served. After the excursions — free time at the hotel.
Day 3
The main impression of the day is the Great Wall of China at a section with a cable car. After the ascent and lunch outside the city, you will stroll through the summer Imperial Garden of the Summer Palace. This day is the most active and "natural" of the Beijing ones.
Day 4
After breakfast — check-out from the hotel and transfer to the airport, then a flight to Yichang. Here the cruise part of the journey begins. The day ends with dinner on board.
Day 5
The cruise continues: a stop in Wushan. For an additional fee you can order an excursion to the ship lift, check when booking. Meals — breakfast and dinner on board.
Day 6
A day on the water: the route passes through Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge. This is one of the most picturesque stretches of the cruise, when gorges and shores change outside the window. Meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 7
A stop in Fengdu. The day passes in a measured cruise rhythm, with the opportunity to go ashore and see local attractions. Meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 8
Transfer to Chongqing airport and a flight to Shanghai. On arrival — transfer to the hotel, and then free time to walk along Nanjing Road, the main shopping street of the city, on your own. This is a day of travel and first acquaintance with Shanghai.
Day 9
A sightseeing day in Shanghai: a visit to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and a visit to the Yu Garden in the old town. You will also stroll through the historical part of Shanghai. Meals — breakfast and lunch.
Day 10
A trip to the western suburb of Shanghai — the ancient water town of Zhujiajiao, which is called the "Venice of Shanghai". Here the atmosphere of old China with water landscapes and ancient architecture has been preserved. Meals — breakfast and lunch.
Day 11
Check-out of the room and departure to the airport for the flight home. Departure is also possible to continue your vacation or journey in any place in China or the countries of the region.
