Shanghai, Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang: 9-day sightseeing tour

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day 1

   The first day — the road and transfers. After arriving in Shanghai, you collect your baggage yourself and check it in for the next flight, and then set off for Zhangjiajie, where a transfer to the hotel without a guide and independent check-in await you. This is a day for travel and rest, without excursions.

2. Day 2

   The main impression of the day — the Tianzi Mountains, to which a cable car takes you up. The sheer cliffs here look so much like a movie set, and from here panoramas open up that you will look at for a long time. Then — a descent on the Bailong Elevator, which gives a completely different angle on these same stone pillars. In the evening, dinner and return to the hotel.

3. Day 3

   This day is about water and the underground world: first a boat ride on Baofeng Lake with its calm surface and views along the shores, then a descent into the Yellow Dragon Cave, where everything consists of bizarre stalactites and stalagmites. A separate part of the day — a walking tour on the glass bridge over the abyss: walking on the transparent surface and looking down is truly thrilling. The day is busy, but with pauses on the water and in the cave.

4. Day 4

   After breakfast — a transfer to Fenghuang, four hours on the road. There, a walk around the city and a boat ride on the Tuojiang River await you: from the water you can see the canals, old bridges and traditional houses standing right at the edge. The day is slower than the previous ones — more contemplation, fewer ascents. Accommodation in a hotel in Fenghuang.

5. Day 5

   The morning begins with a return to Zhangjiajie and an excursion to Tianmen Mountain — the Mountain of the Heavenly Gate, where a huge natural cave formed in the rock. This place is often shrouded in mist, and the very sight of the natural arch high above the ground is remembered for a long time. Then dinner, transfer to the airport and flight to Shanghai, where you will be met without a guide and taken to the hotel.

6. Day 6

   The first full day in Shanghai — a city day. With a guide you go to the Garden of Joy: this is a classic Chinese garden with pavilions, bridges and thoughtful landscapes, the atmosphere here is quiet and harmonious. Next — the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, 468 meters high: from the observation deck views of the city and the river open up, and inside there are pavilions, restaurants and a museum. Lunch — in a Chinese cuisine restaurant, after which a transfer to the hotel and free time.

7. Day 7

   This is a day of a day trip from Shanghai with lunch: you choose Suzhou or Zhujiajiao, one of the cities of the Chinese "Venice". Both options are about water, canals and walks along them, so the pace here is calm and contemplative. Return to the hotel in Shanghai.

8. Day 8

   A free day without excursions — you can use it as you wish. Shopping streets and the Bund embankment are a good option for a walk, and on the Huangpu River you can go on an evening cruise with a buffet dinner: the food offered includes dishes of meat and seafood, and places on such a cruise are booked for an additional fee. This is a day without a set route, where you decide for yourself where to go.

9. Day 9

   Departure day: transfer to the airport without a guide and departure home. There are no excursions or transfers according to the program on this day.
