About the programme

Seven days, two completely different parts of China: first the metropolis Shanghai, then the mountainous Zhangjiajie. Between them there is a domestic flight, which is included in the package, while the international flight is not included here, and this is worth considering in advance.

The first night is a transit one: you arrive, check in your luggage for the next flight on your own, get to the hotel in Zhangjiajie without a guide, settle in and simply rest. The real acquaintance with the mountains begins on the second day.

Zhangjiajie is about nature, scale and height. Here you will find a cable car ascent, a descent by elevator through the rocks, a boat ride on a calm lake, a cave with stalactites and a glass bridge over a precipice. An English-speaking ranger guide accompanies you in this part of the route. The pace here is dense, but each day is a separate strong impression, not a continuation of the previous one.

Shanghai is a different story. Here the pace is freer: a classic garden with pavilions and bridges, an observation deck on the TV tower, and then a whole free day that you can spend as you wish. Optionally and for an additional fee, you can take an evening cruise with dinner on the Huangpu River or a one-day trip to Zhujiajiao or to Suzhou of your choice. This is a trip for those who are ready to walk and climb a lot, who are interested in both the city and wildlife, and who do not mind sometimes dealing with the transfer and accommodation themselves.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

Transfer day: arrival in Shanghai, where you collect and check in your luggage for the next flight yourself, and then arrival in Zhangjiajie. The transfer to the hotel takes place without a guide, check-in is independent. All that is needed from this day is to get there and rest before the mountains.

  2. Day 2

The first real mountain day: after breakfast the guide meets you at the reception, and the cable car ascent to the Tianzi Mountains begins. The views here are the very ones that inspired the filming of "Avatar": pillar rocks, mist, a feeling of height. Down — by the "Hundred Dragons" elevator, through the thickness of mountain formations, from an unusual angle. The pace of the day is dense and vertical, it ends with dinner and return to the hotel.

  3. Day 3

A day of water and stone: a boat ride on Baofeng Lake, where it is quiet and very picturesque, then the "Yellow Dragon" Cave with stalactites and stalagmites. The main impression is the bridge with a glass deck over a precipice: you walk on it and it seems as if you are soaring. The pace is calmer than in the mountains, but there are no fewer emotions; the day ends with dinner and rest at the hotel.

  4. Day 4

A day of farewell to Zhangjiajie: an excursion to Tianmen Mountain, the "Heaven's Gate Mountain", a huge natural cave at an altitude of about 1300 meters, which is often shrouded in mist. After dinner — transfer to the airport, flight to Shanghai, meeting there without a guide and independent check-in. The day is intense and pivotal: the mountains are left behind, the city is ahead.

  5. Day 5

The first date with Shanghai: after breakfast the guide waits at the reception, and you go to the Garden of Joy — a classic Chinese garden with pavilions, bridges and an atmosphere of harmony, and you have lunch in a Chinese cuisine restaurant. The second strong impression is the Oriental Pearl TV Tower: an observation deck at an altitude of 468 meters, from where the whole city and the river are visible. Then — transfer to the hotel and free time for walks.

  6. Day 6

A free day without excursions: you can walk along the famous shopping streets and go out to the Bund. For an additional fee when booking, an evening cruise with dinner on the Huangpu River with a buffet, as well as a one-day excursion with lunch to Zhujiajiao or to Suzhou of your choice, are available. You set the pace yourself.

  7. Day 7

End of the trip: transfer to the airport without a guide and departure home. The international flight is not included, this should be taken care of separately.
