About the programme
Eight days across Uzbekistan — from the Fergana Valley to Bukhara — add up to a leisurely movement from east to west, from one oasis to another. The road here is not a pause between cities, but part of the journey itself: outside the window the valley, the mountain passes, the desert distances change, and you approach each next city already in a different mood.
The trip begins in the east, in Fergana and Namangan, from where the group immediately goes deep into the valley. The first days keep a leisurely rhythm: ancient Kokand, a trip to the Rishton ceramicists, Kokand again with its palace and mausoleums. These are days of crafts and old quarters, where the main thing is to look, to touch, to talk with the masters.
Then the route turns toward the capital: the road through the Kamchik mountain pass leads out of the valley, and after it — Tashkent with the Old City, the Chorsu bazaar and lunch in the pilaf center. From there the way leads to Samarkand, and then the caravan route — through Gijduvon to Bukhara. The second half of the tour is denser in impressions: madrasahs and mausoleums replace one another, but between them there remain markets, chaikhanas and covered bazaars, where you can simply sit and look around.
This trip is for those who are interested not only in architecture, but also in craft, food and the everyday life of cities. Many transfers, much walking, but every day is noticeably different from the previous one: one is about clay and paints, another is about the caravan road, a third is about a square and a madrasah. Overnight stays in hotels, breakfasts included, some lunches too — the rest you can choose yourself.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Fergana or Namangan, meeting at the airport and immediately a transfer to Kokand. The city at the entrance to the valley once stood on the caravan route and was the capital of the khanate — its madrasahs and mosques remind of this. The day passes on the road and in the first acquaintance with the place, the night — in a hotel.
Day 2
The main impression of the day is Rishton and its ceramics: a trip to the center of masters, where they show how glazed dishes are born from clay. After returning to Kokand — a city walk: the palace of Khudoyar Khan, the mausoleum of Madari Khan, the Jami mosque with its columns and the khan's necropolis. The day is leisurely, with frequent stops and conversations about craft.
Day 3
Transfer to Tashkent through the Kamchik mountain pass — the road by which the valley is connected with the capital. This is a day of contemplation from the window: the landscape changes, and with it the feeling of the country changes. In Tashkent — accommodation in a hotel and free time.
Day 4
The day begins with the Old City: Khast Imam square with ancient monuments and the Chorsu bazaar under a huge dome, where handicrafts are sold next to food and spices. A separate event — lunch in the pilaf center "Besh Qozon", where pilaf is cooked in gigantic cauldrons. Then a transfer to Samarkand, to ancient Marakanda, and a night in a hotel.
Day 5
The day most saturated with architecture: Registan square with three madrasahs, the Gur-Emir mausoleum, the Bibi-Khanym cathedral mosque. Between them — the Siab bazaar and the Shahi-Zinda ensemble of medieval mausoleums, and also the museum of the Ulugh Beg observatory with a fragment of a gigantic sextant. The pace is dense, but pauses at the market and in the shade give a chance to rest.
Day 6
On the way to Bukhara — a stop in Gijduvon, in the house of hereditary ceramicists: an acquaintance with the local school of pottery and lunch with a tasting of shashliks. In Bukhara — accommodation and a walk to the Lyabi-Hauz ensemble with its pond, madrasah and monument to Khoja Nasreddin, then the covered trading quarters with workshops. The day combines craft, food and a first look at the city.
Day 7
Continued acquaintance with Bukhara: the Samanid mausoleum, the Chashma Ayub mausoleum, the Bolo-Hauz complex with carved columns. Further — the Ark fortress, the Poi-Kalyan complex and two madrasahs, of Abdulaziz Khan and of Ulugh Beg, with their ornaments and strict proportions. The day is slow, designed to look at details.
Day 8
Breakfast and a group transfer to the airport of Bukhara. The tour program ends.
