About the programme

This trip is about Uzbekistan, which reveals itself gradually: from the modern capital to the ancient cities of the Silk Road. The route leads from Tashkent to Samarkand and Bukhara, and then returns back to Tashkent. The pace of the trip is measured: transfers alternate with walks through squares and streets, where history is felt not in museums behind glass, but right under your feet.

Tashkent greets you with contrasts — here monuments of different eras stand side by side, and bazaars from early morning fill with the aromas of fresh bread and spices. Samarkand is a city where the greatness of Tamerlane's empire is visible in every tile: the huge madrasahs on Registan Square, the Gur-Emir mausoleum, the Bibi-Khanym cathedral mosque. A walk through Shah-i-Zinda is like a journey through the centuries, and the Ulugh Beg Observatory museum reminds you that here people once studied the stars seriously.

Bukhara is a separate chapter. Its historical center is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and here indeed more than 140 monuments have been preserved. This is a city of unhurried walks: Lyabi-Khauz Square with a pond and cafes, the covered bazaars of the 16th century, the Kalyan Minaret and the Ark Fortress. The sightseeing days are structured so that you have time both to listen to the guide and simply to stand, examining the details.

Who is this trip for? For those who want to see the East without haste, with comfortable transport and accommodation in hotels. Overnight stays in double rooms with breakfast, lunches — one is included in the program, the rest can be arranged to your taste. The flight to Tashkent is not included in the price, and this is worth considering when planning. But the meetings and send-offs at the airport, as well as a group of transfers airport — hotel — airport are organized, although for an individual transfer you will have to pay extra.

Five nights in hotels and six days of the program give you the opportunity not to chase after sights, but to delve into the atmosphere of each city. This trip will suit both those who are going to Uzbekistan for the first time and those who want to return to familiar places to see them differently.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

Arrival in Tashkent and free time without transport and sightseeing services. The capital of Uzbekistan is a city where ancient archaeological monuments stand side by side with monumental palaces and modern buildings. It is worth taking a walk through the modern part of the city to feel its scale. Night in a hotel.

  2. Day 2

The sightseeing tour of the Old City begins with Khast-Imam Square — the spiritual center of Tashkent, where the Uthman Quran manuscript is kept. Then you will see the Barak-Khan Madrasah and the Kafal-al-Shashi Mazar mausoleum, and also visit the Chorsu Bazaar with its huge dome. Lunch at the Besh Qozon pilaf center is a separate impression, because here tons of pilaf are cooked daily in giant cauldrons. After the transfer to Samarkand — night in a hotel.

  3. Day 3

Samarkand is a city with more than 2750 years of history, the former capital of Tamerlane's empire. The main impression of the day is Registan Square with three monumental madrasahs, as well as the Gur-Emir mausoleum, which served as a prototype for the Taj Mahal. You will also see the Bibi-Khanym cathedral mosque, the Shah-i-Zinda ensemble and the Ulugh Beg Observatory museum. Night in a hotel.

  4. Day 4

Transfer to Bukhara — a city through which the Great Silk Road passed. Here more than 140 architectural monuments have been preserved, including the Kalyan Minaret and the Ark Fortress. The sightseeing tour of Bukhara includes the Lyabi-Khauz ensemble with an artificial pond and a visit to the trading quarter of the covered bazaars of the 16th century. Night in a hotel.

  5. Day 5

Continued acquaintance with Bukhara and its surroundings: the Samanid Mausoleum, the Chashma Ayub Mausoleum, the Bolo-Khauz complex and the Ark Citadel. You will see the Poi-Kalyan complex, the Abdulaziz-Khan Madrasah and the Ulugh Beg Madrasah. Then transfer to Tashkent by train and accommodation in a hotel.

  6. Day 6

After breakfast — the road to the airport, and here the trip ends.
